How Can People Build Stronger Relationships With Their Cities?

di ospite

For a lot of people, the city is just somewhere where they live or work, and while this can be satisfying enough for a lot of people, others want to build a stronger connection with where they are from and become a part of the community. This article will share some ways that you can give back to your city and create a relationship with it that can stay with you forever.   Organize Events Being part of a community usually means getting people together, and there is no better way than to help put together fun events for everyone. Some examples might be a concert at the local park, setting up an art exhibition, a talent show, a sports event, a cook-off, and the list goes on and on. Many of them can go towards a good cause like fundraisers for a charity, educational resources, or for a local sports team!   Teach Skills You don’t need a teaching degree to educate your community about something you’re experiencing. With approval from your city, of course, you can create classes or seminars for just about anything that you’re experienced in, and you think people can find interesting or useful. Being a teacher at a school by default is a great way to contribute to your local area, but others might like to coach a sports team or give lessons for swimming, art, music, etc. As long as people are learning about something that’s relevant to them, you are doing something meaningful for your community.   Raise Awareness Teaching isn’t just about skill-building, but it can also be used to educate people about important issues that could affect them and others around them and what they can do to be a part of the solution. For instance, you could be a part of anti-drug campaigns, environmental activism, and even mental health advocacy and how people can reach out and get treatment, especially through innovative methods like online therapy from BetterHelp.   Volunteer While all of the previous suggestions are more suited towards creating or providing things that might be interesting to others, that isn’t completely necessary, and you can contribute to establishments that already exist and are an important part of your community. Volunteering is the easiest way to do this, and you can do so at the local library, animal shelter, food banks, senior centers, or an environmental clean-up crew, and countless others. It doesn’t cost anything and it’s the perfect way to give back and help your town and the life within it.   Donate Lastly, while it’s not the strongest of all of the choices here, if you’re strapped for time and can’t commit to these types of suggestions, you can always donate money, supplies, or other resources to different organizations. In fact, many of them that people cherish depend on donations in order to stay in business due to lack of public funding from the government in a lot of areas. That’s where people like you can come in and do what they can.   Conclusion Becoming a valued member of the community can be one of the most fulfilling things that you can do, and while it will take time and commitment on your part, the entire process will be worthwhile. You can have fun, meet new people, and work with causes that resonate with you, and hopefully, not only will you have a stronger appreciation for your city and its people, but it will be reciprocated and they will appreciate you too.

Traveling might feel like a far-off dream at the moment, but it’s never too early to start daydreaming about your next adventure. If you’re feeling burned out, you’re not alone. This year has been tough for a lot of people, especially for moms. With schools closing and opening and closing again, it can be difficult to keep everyone on track for success. The responsibility often falls on the mother to keep the household afloat. Burnout is common. BetterHelp can provide you with a professional counselor to navigate those feelings of burnout and help brainstorm solutions and best practices for managing it in the future. Plus, it couldn’t hurt to take a nice vacation, if you’re able. Vacation Spots for Moms Who Need a Break: Italy It’s hard to go wrong with any destination in Italy, but consider the following to maximize your enjoyment of Italy: Florence Rome Vatican City Amalfi Coast Milan Capri Venice Cinque Terre Even if you think you know what these spots are all about, read on to find out more. Florence Due to its breathtaking scenery, Florence is often a crowd favorite. Up in the countryside, Florence embodies the best of a quieter Roman city. It’s rather small comparatively, but it is incredibly quaint and beautiful. Visit the Duomo, say hello to The David statue, and visit a Tuscan winery along the way. Rome This might be the most obvious choice because it is frequently the most romanticized location in Italy, especially for foreigners. Truthfully, Rome can get quite busy and overcrowded, but for good reason. If you’re a mom who likes a bit of an adventure, Rome could be for you. Chock full of history, astounding sights, good music, and great food, Rome is the heart of Italy. With the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Trevi fountain (just to name a few famous spots), Rome is a destination that cannot be missed. Do as the Romans do! Vatican City  After your visit to Rome, hop over to Vatican City. Yes, it is actually considered a separate country in Europe, but it’s right next door to Rome. As the home of the Pope and the Catholic Church, the Vatican is quite literally a physical core of Catholicism. Even if you are not religious, the hallowed halls of the Vatican are plastered with stunning artwork and rich history; with a guided tour, you’ll understand how fascinating the city really is. Amalfi Coast The incredibly picturesque Amalfi Coast is the perfect place to have a relaxing beach vacation with the most stunning views. With the cliffs, the hillside homes, and the small villages, what’s not to love? Milan If you’re into fashion, you cannot miss Milan. Milan is often regarded as the fashion capital of the world and could be the perfect spot for any mom who wants to reconnect with her stylish side. With amazing scenery and incredible restaurants to boot, Milan is the perfect glamorous getaway. Capri If you’re looking for some island time, look no further than Capri. Capri is known for its blue grottos, food, sunshine, and crystal clear sea, so it can rejuvenate your spirit and give you the vacation you deserve. Venice Of course, last but not least, is Venice. Enjoy the world-famous gondola rides, the food, and the architecture You can finally see what it’s like to live on the water, literally! Be sure to take note of the bridges that Venice is best known for. Conclusion No matter where you go, be sure to actually give yourself a break. It can be difficult to transition in and out of vacation mode. Practice being present, listening to your body, and enjoying what you can. Oftentimes lavish vacations can turn out to be quite stressful, so be sure to schedule in some downtime. You deserve it.

Taking Care Of Your Environment Shouldn’t Feel Like A Punishment: 3 Easy Ways To Do Your Part

di ospite

There are numerous environmental concerns out there, like climate change, pollution, deforestation, resource depletion, and waste disposal, and while you might seem powerless to combat it on your own, there is actually a lot you can do to help create a better place for you and others. Collectively, people can make a difference, and by following these simple strategies, being mindful of your planet, and taking action will set a good example for future generations.   1. Dispose of Your Waste Properly   No one likes to deal with garbage, and while it might seem convenient to haphazardly throw things away in the wrong bin, or worse, litter, taking a moment to decide what should be recycled and what can’t only takes a moment. A lot of materials that should end up recycled, especially plastics, are not biodegradable and often end up in the ocean and harms life there.  From its role in producing oxygen and climate regulation to being a source of food and transportation, the ocean provides countless benefits for humans, and it should be respected.   2. Reduce Utility Usage   Water, gas, and electricity might seem unlimited, but it actually isn’t, and by learning how to conserve them, you can do things such as decreasing toxic emissions into the atmosphere by reducing fuel usage, prevent water shortages in case of a drought, and preserve natural resources. Not only will you be able to help the environment by reducing damage to the atmosphere and allowing resources to be allocated to things that benefit it, you’ll also be able to save money. However, while it’s an investment at first, many people are switching to solar energy and will see a return on it over time in addition to saving energy.   3. Drive Less   Buying an electric car isn’t always possible, but by taking public transportation or simply finding ways to drive your vehicle less, such as by working from home, you can reduce greenhouse gasses from contributing to climate change. Along with factories and power plants, a significant portion of air pollution is caused by the burning of fossil fuels from driving. In fact, in cities, it’s the leading cause of pollution, which is going into its resident’s lungs. Not everyone will stop driving, but if more people looked for alternatives to it, it would surely lead to cleaner air for everyone.   Does Your Environment Stress You Out? If you aren’t happy with how things are, there’s no better time than now to start taking action and find ways to keep your planet clean and sustainable. However, it will be a gradual process, and if you find yourself feeling stressed about the state of things, counseling and therapy can help you cope. By connecting to one at BetterHelp, you can gain perspective and learn how to stay calm and focused on doing what you can to make your world a better place. Both will take time, but with a productive and positive outlook, you might be able to help influence others to make a change as well. Conclusion There is only one Earth, and if we don’t start taking environmental issues more seriously, research shows that their impact may be irreversible. However, right now, it’s not too late, and hopefully, these three basic strategies will be something you can implement today.

5 Reasons Why People Love The Concept Of Smart Mobility

di ospite

Smart mobility is the future, but it can take decades before all cities are able to fully transition to it. Nonetheless, there are many benefits that it has to offer and it can change life as we know it in a positive way. Here you will learn some of the perks of adopting smart mobility and why it’s something everyone should look forward to.   1. It’s Flexible   People do like their cars because they can generally take them anywhere, but what if there were a variety of options to choose from? That’s what smart mobility wants to achieve, and it can offer a lot more convenience for them. Whether it’s a commute to work or something much more long-distance, there will be infrastructure put into place to serve different needs and find the most efficient way to do so.   2. It’s Faster   Speaking of efficiency, smart mobility will help people get to their destinations quicker due to the fact that there will be less congestion on the streets and highways. No one likes to be stuck in traffic because it wastes time, and it can be very stressful, especially if it’s an everyday occurrence. Through the use of technology and city planning, smart mobility will rectify this issue that has been a thorn at every commuter’s side for years.   3. It’s Safer   When there are fewer people on the road and there isn’t as much traffic, transportation becomes much safer, and by implementing smart mobility, the rate of vehicular accidents and fatalities should drop sharply. It can also reduce the likelihood of violent and aggressive incidents due to less stress being placed on drivers. In the meantime, stress should be managed, and strategies can be learned with the help of a counselor at BetterHelp.   4. It Saves Money   One of the most notable benefits of smart mobility that definitely appeals to people is that it can help people save money. More people would take public transportation if it was more comfortable and convenient, but currently, people prefer to drive vehicles because that’s what’s easiest, despite it costing significantly more to buy and maintain one. By making alternative methods more attractive and more people using them, not only will citizens save money, but municipalities as well.   5. It’s Environmentally Friendly   Through a combination of technology to make public transportation efficient and having fewer vehicles on the road that produce toxic emissions, smart mobility can be an essential part of fighting climate change by keeping our air cleaner. By transitioning into sustainable electric-powered methods, all methods of transportation can be less dependent on fossil fuels which are a major part of the environmental issues the world faces today.   Conclusion   While it will take a long time before smart mobility is implemented to its fullest, the technology and framework are already here - we have electric self-driving cars, ride-sharing, and in many highly-developed metropolises, high-speed railways are a staple in helping people get to where they need to go. Once gas-powered methods become phased out completely, there’s no looking back because smart mobility is incredibly beneficial, and hopefully, the points in this article illustrate that.

The Perfect Destination for Your Passionate, Artistic Child

di ospite

Sometimes, you need to get away from all of the hustle and bustle of life and just relax and take a nice break from worrying about work or other commitments. If you are planning a trip with a child, you will likely need to plan around the child’s needs and interests to ensure that they enjoy their time as well. After all, if you’ve chosen to bring them, then it’s their vacation, too, so including time or planning excursions with things that they would enjoy will make the trip even more exciting for everyone. A child is never too young to begin exploring other cultures, and Italy can be the perfect location to start their international travel, especially if they’re an artistic child. Italy is home to several locations of renown in regards to their impact on the artistic world, from the Sistine Chapel to the ruins of Ancient Rome and Pompeii with its preserved frescoes. It can be difficult to decide which city to stay in, but, thanks to improvements in national railways and travel between different regions, it’s entirely possible to visit every city you want to, given enough time. Rome Any list about the artistic world of Italy would be incomplete without mentioning Rome. The entire city is a breathing art museum (although there are several actual museums available to visit as well) with statues from ancient times scattered about the city and architecture from every era of civilization present in some way. It’s impossible to walk a block in the city without breathing in some piece of history. It should also satisfy any need for a more urban experience if you happen to need that itch scratched. The entire stay in Rome doesn’t have to be dedicated to an appreciation for the arts, since even some more touristy experiences can be great photo opportunities if your child is a budding photographer. It’s a great city to try out some authentic cuisine from the region and get some real deal pizza. Of course, since it’s such a heavily visited city, there are also restaurants that will serve more American tastes as well, so you don’t have to worry if your future Picasso happens to also be a picky eater. Pompei This destination will satisfy any history buff and could be an exciting experience for any young artist. The volcanic ash that rained down on Pompeii in ancient times preserved a lot of the paint that was used to make murals and frescoes on the walls. You can see accurate depictions of everyday life and what was popular at the time. It could be an amazing lesson about not only learning the art style of a culture but also learning about different subjects in those periods of time. Visiting these ruins can also show how things haven’t changed much in the hundreds of years after the explosion, since there are still ruins in the city that show people wrote their name and “was here” in public restrooms. The human race is nothing if not consistent. Florence This is the spot to take any artist with a love of the Renaissance. It was the center of the Renaissance, and many of the major artworks that were produced during that period, such as the statue of David, are housed in the city. As home to dozens of cathedrals with phenomenal and awe-inspiring architecture, it’s also the perfect stop for any artist whose interests lie in architecture instead of on a canvas. If you ever tire of walking around the city to see the sights, you can always take a short trip to the countryside where they offer a spa to rest your bones from all of that walking. You can visit the Boboli Gardens, which are an amazing botanical experience and offer insights as to what a talented landscaper can do to a patch of land. Trieste If you’re looking for something a little more off the beaten path, as opposed to Rome and Florence, then Trieste might be the perfect location for you. Not many people know about it, but it’s quickly becoming an amazing, upcoming vacation destination thanks to its amazing placement on the northeastern shore of the country and ancient locales that have been preserved against the test of time. If you have a thespian in the family, then they’ll love exploring the ancient theater where speeches would be given or theatrical performances put on for all of the people of the city. Mosaics give a look into another art form that visual artists can study and learn from. The food scene is also amazing for any aspiring culinarians, with a mishmash of cultures coming together to make a taste that’s completely unique and an experience you’ll especially appreciate if you’re into fusion eats. Milan If your artist is a budding fashion designer, then this is the destination for them. It’s one of the fashion capitals of the world, where dozens of fashion shows attract the eyes and attention of the world. It also happens to be where da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper, is housed, so be sure to snag tickets as soon as you can for that attraction! Your visit will be brief for the time you spent hunting those tickets down, but it’s entirely worth it. If you have the time and money to spare, try to catch a performance at the Teatro alla Scala, a famous opera house in the city. The arts are so broad and expansive in their reach that maybe your little artist will fall in love with the idea of set design, as it’s some of the most amazing in the world. Or maybe you’ll just get to listen to your little one try opera out for the next few weeks. Just remember that you love them, and it’s totally worth it. Now Plan that Trip Even if you don’t knock this trip out of the water, you tried your best, and they’ll appreciate that. However, if you find yourself struggling in some areas of parenting, like what you should do if your child is throwing a tantrum or is homesick even when you’re with them, then try BetterHelp, that could help you with those sorts of concerns. Traveling with a child can be stressful, but it’s completely worth it once you see your little artist’s eyes light up. So, get out there and explore!

How Cinque Terre Inspired the Pixar Film, Luca

di ospite

If you haven’t seen the film, Luca, you’re missing out. In addition to a beautiful story, the views are absolutely spectacular. Sure, it’s an animated movie, but it’s inspired by a real place. After you watch it, even if you can’t yet travel to Italy, you can daydream of the Italian Riviera with an informed aesthetic in mind! When you’re stuck inside, it’s important to take care of your mental health. Looking for advice on how to parent from home? See here for parenting tips and tricks on how to be the best parent you can be. It means dreaming and possibly breaking out of your routines. You may need to try something new from the comfort of your living room. One great place to start? With the film, Luca. Cinque Terre Luca might be a fictional town, but it’s inspired by a real place. In northwest Italy, just off the coast, lie a series of small sea villages within the Cinque Terre. Perhaps you’ve seen idyllic photographs of colorful houses standing atop the hillside of the coastline on a postcard or on Pinterest. The sight is quite breathtaking and certainly serves as a frequent point of inspiration for those who visit and those who live there. The villages of Cinque Terre include the following: Monterosso Vernazza Corniglia Manarola Riomaggiore If you ever visit any of them, make sure to get a good map. Each is connected by foot trails and, if you’re feeling up to it, you can do quite a bit of hiking as you sightsee. You can spend a day at the beach, enjoy the seafood and the wine, and have your own little Luca-inspired vacation alone or with friends and family. Enrico Casarosa The director of Luca, Enrico Casarosa, is a major reason why the film pulls inspiration from Cinque Terre. Before he was an Academy Award–nominated filmmaker, Casarosa spent a lot of time on the Italian Riviera while growing up in Genoa, Italy. According to Travel + Leisure, “To create the film and capture the essence of a part of the world so uniquely beautiful, a team of core creatives made trips to Italy to truly understand the magic of it. Initially, a team of writers explored the hills, the waters, and everything in between to learn how to tell the tale.” “Then," Casarosa explained, "the second team went from the art department, especially the lighting department. They had to feel that sun on their skin to then try to convey it." In addition to being a director, Casarosa has also been a story artist, a story supervisor, a writer, a senior creative director, and a voice actor. While Luca is the first film he has directed, he has been a part of making some extremely successful animated films. His credits include:     Ice Age Robots Cars Ratatouille Up Cars 2 The Good Dinosaur Coco Incredibles 2 Toy Story 4 Onward Soul     Based on these other successes, the man can clearly be called a visionary, so it’s no surprise that his directing debut was such a success. Casarosa has plenty more on the horizon, and hopefully, it’ll be a hot streak. Luca’s Success In addition to the audio from Luca becoming a viral TikTok trend, cue, “Silenzio, Bruno!”, the film has done quite well. While it is available on Disney+, it’s made about 23.7 million dollars at the box office already. Rotten Tomatoes, the notoriously harsh online movie critic site, has ranked it with a score of 90%/100%, which is quite high by their standards. The infectious positivity and the explorative inspiration have made the movie popular with individuals of all ages. Animated films are often made with adults in mind too, and this one happens to be a movie everyone can enjoy.
